China 2005 part II

The final few days of this holliday  I spend in Beijing..

02-10 : Sleeping this night didn’t went to well cause I had a severe cold. Around 2.30 pm we arrived in Beijing. We took the subway to the Far East Youth hostel. Someone told us that this is a nice place for backpackers to be. That wasn’t a lie. It has a nice courtyard where you can relax a bit from the busy city outside. Janick the Canadian guy we Garden at Temple of Heaven Beijingmet earlier was here to, so we took dinner together. Was a nice Chinese (duh!) restaurant where we had tasty food. Not like in Europe. Jacqueline suddenly looked pale and became black for her eyes. With a bit of water and fresh air back to the hostel and put her to bed. Can’t be the food, cause the others and I survived.

Mongolia/Ulaan Bataar (UB) 2005

…continued from the China story, where we ended in the Trans Mongolian Express from Beiijng to Mongolia…

From 1-9-2005 until 3-09-2005

01-09 : After some hours off sleeping, while the train was moving pretty smoothly, I woke up and saw that it was getting light. Looking at the sandy scenery outside, we must be riding through the Gobi desert. The sky was crystal bright blue so it would be a nice sunny day :)

After just dozing off a bit, the scenery changed to some more greener fields.
Around 13:30 we arrived at Ulaan Bataar, the capital off Mongolia. When getting out, we could get a ride to a the Our hostel room in Nassan GHNassan Guesthouse hostel/guesthouse, which seemed to be an allright place to stay for a while. Not to special, but hey what can you expect?
Time to freshen up a bit after the 30 hour train ride :) In the hostel we met Natan, an English guy who also just arrived. He also didn’t know what to do yet in Mongolia, so we explained him our ideas to do a trip off around 24 days through the country. He was interested right away, so we had to find a nice trip and maybe some people more to share the cost off hiring a driver and car. Time for looking at what’s available/possible then! At least the Mongolian do speak a bit more english then the Chineese in Beijing :)

China 2005 part I

This trip would lead me to China, Mongolia and back to China. The trip would just take 6 weeks in total (from 28 august until 7 october), cause i didn’t had more days to spent ;)

This first part will describe the first days in China and the start of the train trip to Mongolia.
The second part will describe the part after returning from Mongolia.

28-08 : Today was flying time. Early in the morning a friend of mine dropped me off at Schiphol airport where i would meet my travel companion Jacqueline. After drinking some coffee with her family it was time to start the first part of the journey to Frankfurt/Germany. This was just a short trip to get us familiar with flying again, so after that….we had to go to Doha/Qatar, but had 2,5 hours off delay in Frankfurt cause they thought there was some oil leaking. Because off this we thought that we would miss our connection flight from Doha to Beijing/China, but luckily the plane was still waiting for us :)

In the meantime it was midnight now so time to go to sleep and everything else you can do in a plane…
